Today's book review breaks away from the traditional fantasy novels and women's literature I typically go for. It's a great, entertaining story about spiritual growth!

So let me tell you a little secret …
I’ve been working intensely on my personal and even spiritual growth lately. Back in February I signed up for the life-changing courses offered by Mindvalley. This entails daily guided meditations among other things but I’ll keep it short.
Anyway, this book relates a lot to all the amazing things I’ve been learning at Mindvalley. This book all but jumped off my bookcase, begging me to read it and I’m so glad I did! It’s been on my list to read this book since I was an undergrad (a long time ago). I read the first book in this series, The Way of the Peaceful Warrior, when I was an undergrad and I LOVED it. This one was just as good, if not better.
Note: It is best to read them in order. Dan’s work can be found HERE.
I also downloaded the next book in this series, The Hidden School, and I can’t wait to get the rest of Dan’s journey to enlightenment.
These books are labeled as fiction most likely because there are some amazing and unexplainable things that Dan’s spiritual teachers are capable of accomplishing. Things that are outside most people’s limited mindsets. However, I believe Dan would simply call them his autobiography.
Regardless of what is fiction and what is fact, these stories are page turners with the right mix of mystery, action, intrigue, deep Zen-like insights and absolutely amazing characters who you can’t help but fall in love with.
If you’d like an entertaining story while also uncovering some spiritual truths then these books are for you!
Heat level: Mild to Medium. There is one scene where Dan has to pass through his “lower self” in order to get to his “higher self”. When he visits the 2nd level (or 2nd chakra) which is all about sexuality and passion for life, it is quite the exciting and tastefully written love scene. Otherwise the focus of the book is largely about spiritual awakening as well as companionship and even survival.
Have you read this one or any of Dan’s work? What did you think?
