The Book Lover’s Holiday Gift Guide

With holiday shopping in full swing, I have found myself struggling with selecting the perfect

gifts for the book lovers in my life - mainly because of all the options out there! E-books, paperbacks, audiobooks, how do you know what format would be best without spoiling the surprise and asking them?

So I thought I'd create a short book lover gift guide to make it easy to find the perfect gifts no matter who you are shopping for.

For the Traditionalist...

A good old fashioned paperback is the perfect gift or stocking stuffer for those that prefer a physical book in their hands over a tablet or smartphone. After all... the "page turn" is arguably one of the most satisfying aspects of reading, right?

Paperbacks are also great for those that value comfort above all else. It's much cozier to cuddle up with on a rainy day, than say, a hardback or even an e-reader. There’s also no worry about eye strain from staring at a screen for extended periods of time!

For the Digital Nomad...

On the flipside, e-books are the way to go for those thriving in the digital age. The ones that prefer the sleek look of an ipad or kindle to that of pages.

Aside from tablet lovers, I have found that they are perfect for the minimalists in your life, the ones that hate clutter and don't care (or have space) for a bookcase.

For the Multitasker…

Audiobooks are perfect and often essential for busy book lovers that are always on the move. They simply don’t have time to sit down and read! Audiobooks allow them to listen to the story while still completing their to-do lists, a perfect compromise. I must say this category is the one I typically fall into, and I love my audiobooks! Without them I couldn’t provide my monthly book review to you guys.

Audiobooks are also great for the travelers, the ones always taking a road trip or needing something to pass the time on a plane.

For the Book Shelf Connoisseur…

Finally, we’ve got our audience for hardbacks, and those are the people who don’t just like to read books but they like to look at them too. They appreciate the elegant look of a hardback book and look for such to adorn their bookshelves or lay out on their coffee tables. They are all about the aesthetic!

Some folks also love a hardback for its durability - perhaps they are clumsy and have a tendency of dropping things, or they simply love to re-read books periodically and are constantly taking them to visit family or on vacation. Whatever the case, a hardback will withstand the rough and tumble and remain in good shape.

And there you have it! I hope this is helpful in your holiday shopping! Drop a comment below if you have any other tips to share.
