What do you need in order to reach your goals…. No matter what they may be. My dream is to become a prosperous author.
Well I’m not quite there …. yet but I will be … soon. No, I’m not being arrogant. I know this because I recently learned THE SECRET. It is the secret to getting what we want in life. The "how to” manual for the universe, if you will. Yes, I’m referring to Rhonda Byrne’s books and films. She has sold over 20 million copies (in print) of her books and was on the NYTs best selling list for 190 weeks in a row. Most authors are lucky to hit it for one week.
How did Rhonda accomplish this? She practices what she preaches. At one level it is very simple, she passionately and clearly asks for what she wants and she gets it. This is part of THE SECRET. I won’t recap all that it initials, as Rhonda and her long list of amazing colleagues have spelled it out better than I can here.
One way to sum it up is … “Thoughts become things.” (Mike Dooley, The Secret). Our thoughts are VERY powerful and if they are negative then we get negative things in life. If our thoughts are positive then we get positive things. Pretty obvious, right? Then why do so many of us frequently have negative thoughts each day?
Many things about The Secret documentary helped me. Some of it was a much needed reminder, such as positive = positive and negative = negative (duh!). However, I had recently fallen into a place of negative thoughts and doubts and guess what? Life was not going the way I wanted.
The good news is that we can turn that around in one afternoon and get our life back on track and be truly happy and on the right path to getting what you want in no time.
Something that I learned (that I did not know before) from The Secret is that the HOW is not up to us. The HOW is the way you will get what you want. We don’t have to know how we will reach our goals. We don’t have to SEE how we will obtain our desires. It is the universe’s job to make the path for us. And guess what, this is what the universe does best — it opens doors for us.
I have lists and lists of how to sell books. I was doing all the things I was "supposed" to do, with mediocre results and the negative thoughts and doubts crept in. They slowly became more predominant over time.
It was incredibly freeing to learn that it is not up to me. I don’t have to know HOW I will sell millions of books. We only have to know what we want and ask for it, clearly, passionately! We need to feel like we have it already! The way, the how will then be opened up for us.
I have spent several years studying the Psychology of Religion, there has been research conducted on the effectiveness of prayer (believing and passionately asking a higher power for what we want). People who pray for what they want and adamantly believe that they will get it, have a much higher chance of obtaining what they want, scientifically and statistically speaking.
Remember! It’s all about the power of positive thoughts!
